NOTE: When you think of a right or a left spring you should be in the garage and be looking at the header where your torsion tube is mounted. The winding cone on the right spring will be black and the winding cone on the left spring will be red. Just think, is the spring I want to the right or the left of center? When replacing Torsion Springs you will need, Winding Bars, Vice Grip's, a 7/16" wrench and a 9/16" wrench. You may also need a file for burrs on the Torsion Tube and a Hammer.

WHILE YOU HAVE THE TENSION OFF THE DOOR, this is a good time to consider replacing your cables, and rollers if either shows signs of wear. Also check the bearing plates on both sides and center, if worn this is a good time to change these also.

Spring and Fall are "SPRING" season. When the weather changes, weak springs generally break and you find yourself in a bind to either get your car out of the garage or you get stuck out. Don't wait till this happens to you. Inspect your springs and if necessary change them before you have to! Just a thought if they look rusty that is a dead give away.

Springs are generally good for 10,000 cycles but may last much longer and are coated black steel.
